Meet our Team: The Heart of our School

Meet the Melbourne Preschool Staff: The Heart of Our School <3

Cue the Full House theme song, because that’s the energy our staff brings to Melbourne Preschool every single day! We’re quirky, fun, hard-working, and educated— we wouldn’t have it any other way. One of our most popular questions is: who are you teachers, and what are their qualifications?

All of our teachers are fully qualified in Florida, with many holding Associate in Arts (AA) and Bachelor of Arts or Science (BA or BS) degrees. But what really sets us apart? Our team stays together. This is another big questions parents have: How long have your teachers been here? Where other daycares experience constant staff turnover, our teachers have been with us anywhere from two to nine years! Sure, our teachers grow and move on to new adventures, but at The Melbourne Preschool, we’ve built a team of educators who create a strong, stable and supportive environment for both students and families.

So, What Makes Our Staff Different?

  • We Communicate. Open, respectful, and effective communication is key.

  • We’re Educated. Our team is full of knowledgeable professionals passionate about early childhood education.

  • We’re Team Players. We support each other, always. No matter what!

  • We’re Quirky & Fun. We laugh a lot, and we bring joy to learning.

  • We’re Sticklers for Policy. Structure and routine are paramount to creating a safe, stable, and organized environment for our students.

We’re not just teachers—we’re your family’s village. We’re here to help guide and educate your children with love, structure, and encouragement. Research shows that kids thrive with consistent, stable teachers, and that’s exactly what we provide.

Leadership that Understands the Classroom

Our owners are unlike any other in Brevard county. Mr. Alex holds a BA in Child Studies and an MA in Educational Studies—plus, he’s even published work on self-directed learning. Miss Rebecca has a BA in Child Studies, and while her graduate degree is in media, her background in early childhood education gives her a unique perspective. The owners know what it’s like to run a classroom because they’ve been there. Miss Rebecca has worked with infants through elementary school students, and Mr. Alex has worked with children from preschool-age through high school and university. It’s this experience that sets The Melbourne Preschool apart- Mr Alex and Miss Rebecca believe that in order to offer the best service- you have to know how to run a classroom first.

Another key part of our amazing team is our wonderful Director- Miss Odalis. Just like the owners, Miss Odalis found her passion for teaching early on. She has been working in education in Brevard for over two decades, and brings her wealth of knowledge and experience to our team. Miss Odalis has been with us since day 1- and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Just a fun fact: Miss Odalis doesn’t always like to admit it- but she’s been teaching in Brevard for so long that some of her young students are now grown up with families- and they now seek her out to take care of their own children. It’s a beautiful full-circle moment when that happens! So when we say we’re your family’s village- we mean it. We’re your kid’s village, and maybe even your grandkid’s village too!

Not a Franchise, But a Family

The biggest difference that sets us apart is we’re not a corporate, cookie-cutter, franchised daycare. We’re a small, homey center run by teachers-turned-business-owners who truly care. A smaller center means we can actually take the time for each student- they aren’t just numbers like in so many centers in town. But don’t just take our word for it- come by the center to experience The Melbourne Preschool difference!
