Where Learning Comes to Life: Enrich, Engage, Explore

Hello friends!

Today we’re covering Enrichment at Melbourne Preschool: Where Learning Comes to Life! We believe the best learning happens hands-on. Our enrichment activities bring lessons to life, making education exciting and interactive for our curious young learners. We have found that by incorporating enrichment activities with our hands-on curriculum, students are offered opportunities to develop a sense of independence, self-confidence, and also essential problem-solving skills. This holistic educational approach has been proven to lay a strong foundation for future academic and personal success.

Bringing the World to Our Students

Why just read about something when you can experience it? Our little learners enjoy visits from community guests like librarians, local veterans, senior home residents for engaging story times, and visits from those who serve our community, like the Melbourne Fire Department. We also host a variety of guest speakers throughout the year, from dentists, veterans, and even scientist from NASA, inspiring the next generation. A favorite visitor is always the petting farm from Cox Farms. Miss Della, the owner, always makes sure to bring us her various animals to share and educate students and staff alike. Maybe you’ve seen a duck, or pet a rabbit- but have you held a bearded dragon? Or seen and pet a real turkey? Miss Della has always got you covered!

From foam parties and water play days, to summer sports and soccer workshops , we keep kids moving and engaged. Active learning builds coordination, teamwork, and a love of movement!

Subjects Come Alive

It’s one things to learn about a subject- such as math, reading or science- in a classroom. But it is another to experience it in the real world. Each spring, to support our science lessons, we raise butterflies and ladybugs, watching them transform before our eyes. Once they are fully grown, we release them into the wild from our backyard playground. We also have a backyard garden where kids dig in the dirt, plant seeds, and learn how things grow. And, of course, we mix up cooking and baking workshops to explore science through food as well!

A Village of Support

We know it takes a village to raise a child, and this is why we include such a variety of enrichment activities and workshops throughout the year- and we’d love if you’d join us too! We love parent involvement, whether it's volunteering to read a story, share your profession, or attend special events, our families are part of our learning village.

That’s all for this week! Toodleoo!
