Sunshine & Science: Why Outdoor Play is Preschool’s Best Teacher
The Great Outdoors: Where Little Minds Grow!
Hi Friends! Step aside, tablets and screens—nature is the ultimate learning playground! At The Melbourne Preschool, we believe some of the best lessons happen under the sun, in the dirt, and up in the playhouse loft. And lucky for us, we have 6,000 square feet of backyard magic to make it happen!
Brains Blossom Outside! 🌱
Did you know outdoor play boosts cognitive growth? Research shows that nature-based learning improves problem-solving skills, creativity, and focus. Whether kids are climbing our custom playgrounds, digging in the garden, playing tag and hide and seek- or imagining adventures in the new playhouse loft, their brains are hard at work—without even realizing it!
Dirt, Bugs & Big Discoveries 🦋🐞
Springtime at our preschool is full of hands-on science. From planting seeds in our garden to hatching and releasing ladybugs and butterflies, our little learners experience life cycles up close and personal. According to research, interacting with nature enhances memory and attention span—and let’s be honest, releasing a flutter of butterflies is way cooler than any worksheet!
Run, Jump, Think! 🏃♂️🌿
Outdoor play isn’t just great for gross motor skills—it’s a brain booster, too! Studies show that kids who get regular outdoor activity perform better in problem-solving and social interactions. So whether they’re balancing on the bridge, digging in the garden, or navigating the playground structures, they’re flexing their brains and their muscles. This is why the outdoors is our favorite classroom! With age-appropriate playgrounds, a thriving student garden, and endless space to explore, our little learners are growing strong, smart, and curious—one adventure at a time!
Until next week- Toodleoo!
